Social Media Marketing and Management: Level 1

In this course, practice photography techniques that beautifully and clearly represent your work for your social media pages and online business. Create descriptions/captions to accompany your photos with the intention to increase engagement on your pages to ultimately sell your artwork. Expand your online presence and create posts that reflect you as an artist and maker. Each week we will follow up with your marketing and management progress and figure out a social media formula that works for your business and lifestyle.

Youth Class: Rings! Rings! Rings!

Metalsmith a variety of rings in this studio based 3 day workshop for Middle and High School aged students. Rings, Rings, Rings! is taught by practicing jeweler Marysa Sacerdote and covers several processes of both design and execution. There are a variety of different ways to make a ring and Marysa will guide you through the practice of metalsmithing your very own wearable art!

8/11 - Sat Keum-Boo II

Take this Ancient gold fusing technique to the next level. Expand on the technique of fusing 24 karat gold to the silver jewelry you'll create in this workshop by introducing 3 dimensional forms (such as rings or earrings). Students will also experiment with over-laying textures on gold-fused silver. This is an easy, economical way to incorporate gold in your work and enhance its appeal.

Skill Level: Basic 101, Keum-Boo I is a plus!

8/18 - Sat Beginning Loop-in-Loop Chain Making

Byzantine style Etruscan chains date back to antiquity and are still made by hand to this day. Students will learn the basics of taking fine silver wire and wrapping it around a dowel to make a coil, cutting it into individual links that are fused closed using a torch, shaping and then assembling a variety of different chains. We will focus on learning the various “stitches” allowing students to continue their studies at home. This technique requires very minimal equipment and the results are professional quality chains that impress everyone and are truly a labor of love. Caution: Extremely addictive!

8/19 - Sun Thick Walled Bezels

Confident with making bezels and want to make them more dramatic? Learning how to make a thick walled bezel can expand the look and weight of your work. This workshop features different thicknesses of bezels, how to decorate them, and how to set your stones with a hammer hand-piece. You can concentrate on a stone you love, or practice on separate stones of varying sizes. Whichever style you choose, this class is for those of us who love stones, and love setting them in interesting ways.
Skill Level: Intermediate (including soldering)

8/25 - 26 / Sat&Sun "Stone on Stone" Setting Techniques

Learn to create a design in stone that is uniquely yours. Stone on stone setting is a technique that you can use to expand your skills. Bezel set a stone on top of a stone. With this technique you can use multiple gems to enhance your designs. This class will teach you to drill into stone and add a bezeled gem to create a three-dimensional piece.
This fun technique expands your expertise, adds color and stretches your creativity.
Skill level: Basic-Intermediate skills including soldering. Basic knowledge of bezel setting a plus.

8/29-31 / 3 Days *11:00 - 2:00 / Wed - Fri Jewelry-Making for Kids:
Introduction to Beading, Wire-wrapping, and Texturing

This class is designed as a fun 3-day session to introduce children from 7 to 14 to making jewelry in a professional studio setting. We will focus on learning about tools and techniques, as well as design elements, color selection, and workplace safety. The last day's project will be for the kids to make their very own sterling silver ring (soldering will be done by grown-ups).
