Lampworking

Create unique, individualized glass beads to incorporate into your jewelry pieces. Lampwork glass beads are made with melted glass and shaped to fabricate beautiful one of a kind beads. In this workshop students will learn the basics of lampworking, making beads decorated with flower designs, silver foil, copper leaf and layers of glass designs.

Simple Silver Rings

Feel the excitement and pride of making a beautifully polished ring from start to finish. Using sterling silver wire, students will cut, file, solder, hammer, sand and polish a ring. This is a perfect workshop for couples, Galentine's Day and people who want to create their own custom ring in one workshop. This class will open a window to the possibilities of working with metal, different techniques and also put a beautiful finished ring on it!

Basic 3 - Get Dimensional

Shift your focus to a more sculptural approach and discover more in depth knowledge of how to move metal. Sheet and wire can be manipulated in amazing ways! Bend, stretch, form, construct, fabricate, score, deck and forge pieces of jewelry and functional objects. Learn the basics of forging by hammering heavy wire to stretch it, learn to form and dap sheet to create bracelet and bowl shapes and to score and bend sharp corners to produce box forms. Students are encouraged to sample a variety of techniques and combine them into more significant pieces of their creation.
Projects ideas may include (but are not limited to): A constructed cylinder box, hollow ring, forged bracelet or small scale sculptures.
This class can be repeated over & over. More advanced projects may include candlesticks, boxes, business card holder, vase, incense burner. Here's the opportunity to expand on your skills and create pieces of volume beyond jewelry.

Forged Cuff Bracelets

The ancient art of cold forging involves stretching metal with controlled hammer blows against an anvil or stake. Topics covered include: properties of non-ferrous metals, types of hammers and when to use them, how to make the metal move where you want it to, plus a variety of related demonstrations. A cuff bracelet is a great way to learn these basic techniques in a single project you'll walk out wearing with pride.
