There will be a number of demonstrations with hands-on bench-time to cement the knowledge. The wide range of topics covered will give you a solid foundation to set you out on your educational path with confidence. Learn how to recognize quality craftsmanship in the pieces you currently own or want to buy. The skills acquired in jewelry making come in handy on many levels, even fixing and altering things!

Homage to Aldo Cipullo

Sat-Sun                  January 17 - 18             10:00 - 4:00

(Steven Parker)

In addition to studying math, English, chemistry, and all that stuff in middle and high school, my favorite independent study was in jewelry, and my teachers were my mother’s catalogs from Tiffany, Cartier, and Buccellati.  When I first saw Aldo Cipullo’s now iconic bracelet for Cartier, I was delighted and astounded by both the concept of design and use of industrial fasteners.

This class teaches building a simple bangle bracelet in two halves, approximately 6mm wide, fit close to the wrist and assembled on the wrist with two screws.  We will build a screwdriver for assembly (not pictured).   One or many interchangeable ornaments can be screwed on to the bracelet depending on your design.  Shown are three interchangeable ornaments that can be screwed into a threaded hole at the center of the bracelet -  a pearl,  a CZ set upside down, a found object.

Skill Level: Advanced beginner

Tuition: 475.

Lab Fee: 20.

Materials: Brass will be provided. Students can bring their own silver if desired.
