This one-day workshop is geared for jewelry students interested in learning how to solder everything from jump ring, posts & bezels to soldering a rim on a raised vessel. Get an in-depth knowledge of what torch is appropriate for your needs, the difference between solders and fluxes, as well as a variety of soldering techniques including butt joints, sweat and point soldering. The use of heat sinks, binding techniques and set-up will be covered as well. There are many approaches to soldering. This workshop will help make you more comfortable with a torch in your hand. (*Please note this class is specific to non-ferrous metals including sterling silver, copper, brass, bronze & nickel)

Skill Level: Basic 101 & 2

Sun          9/15                                                                 Box Clasps

Forget the catalog, make your own specialized box clasp to enhance your designs. Box clasps can be designed to go with your creations, while adding security and individuality. This class will stretch your ideas of what is possible, to finish off that special bracelet or necklace. We will learn how to construct a box clasp, the tongue, and a safety catch. Together they will highlight your unique style, and bring your work to a higher level.

Explore the applications of resin in jewelry by experimenting with resin molds as well as fabricating either a pendant or a ring with resin set in the metal construction.  Bring objects to set in resin, scraps of wood, flowers, odds and ends, doodads or anything you think might look good in resin! (the smaller the object the better, be creative and bring options!) 

All skill levels welcome!

Skill level: No experience necessary.
